Pentyrch was the place I was born and brought up though I left over 30 years ago now. It is in fact 8 miles from Cardiff and although boundaries have changed is not a suburb of Cardiff as you might regard Fairwater or St Mellons. On the Garth mountain there were plenty of sheep and there were still plenty of sheep when I last visited the mountain some years ago. On the subject of sheep many a time sheep and cows (for that matter) wandered into our garden to enjoy the fruit of my fathers labours in the garden, though I'm sure the farmers in the area may tend to their hedges to keep their animals more secure these days. However the last time I was in Pentyrch there were still plenty of fields with sheep in between Pentyrch and Creigiau. So her comments on the village certainly ring true to my memory.
